Happy second week of school! Our week was definitely defined by MAP testing. Room 109 had three tests that help us determine the best way to group students during Reading and Math intervention times. Though each test took a long time, the students worked extremely hard and were respectful of each other to finish their tests. I am very proud of how everyone did! On Tuesday, Room 109 was able to try out and decide on any band instrument that they would like to play in band. It was so much fun to see everyone try out the instruments and actually seeing the instruments in real life. Our week seemed to fly by! We were able to dive into Harry Potter and have gotten into Chapter Five. Everyone is super excited to find out what happens to Harry next and I am excited to be able to read it with them! In science, we have been learning about the different states of matter. Together we created visuals to represent the different types as well as acting out the molecules in the different states of matter. Next week, we will be talking about changing states of matter. Lots of experiments are ahead!

Hello Everyone!
This has been a great first week in room 109! This week, we have grown together as a class and really have gotten to know each other. We have been playing get to know you games where we shared facts about ourselves and "Would You Rather" to get ourselves talking. We had a great first day assembly where we were introduced to our new Eagle mascot. We will be deciding on a name for him or her sometime this week! We also went through the school to go over our norms in the hallway, bathroom, cafeteria, and media center. It was great for all of us to get a reminder of our norms at the start of the school year. As the week went on, we made sure we got ourselves organized for the school year. Our folders and notebooks are labelled and ready to go for all of our classes. We will be working more this week to make sure our Reading Notebook is set and in order. We also had time for some science experiments this week! The students worked in their table groups to Save Fred (a gummy worm) from drowning with only four paper clips! It was great to see everyone working together to get the job done. We also worked on using our senses to identify objects hidden in bags. It has been great to see everyone work together and find their inner scientist! I cannot wait to see what will happen this week, especially with spending time to learn about the solar eclipse happening tomorrow! -Mrs. Schneider |
