Already four weeks of school! I can't believe it!
This was a quick, short week for our students. In the morning, we had been working on our All About Me newspaper. The newspaper gives the student a great way to explain different parts of their life as well as adding their own personal flair! These will be up during Curriculum Night for everyone to see! We finished our first topic of math this week. We worked hard practicing rounding and comparing decimals. We had different center games that were fun and engaging in the topics. I am so proud of how hard the students have been working and I am excited to start adding and subtracting decimals this week. In Literacy Workshop, we have been working on plot diagraming. In plot diagraming, the students are able to see a visual representation of a story. We watched Pixar Short Animated Films in order to use a plot diagram. It was fun watching the different films and discussing how the plot makes the story. We are going to continue working on plot diagrams while writing our own fracture fairy tales!

Hello Everyone!
Third week of school, how amazing! In math, we have been rocking through our place values up to the thousandths place. We worked with comparing decimals and rounding decimals. We went through centers on Friday to be sure that we got more practice. I cannot believe our first is coming up on the 8th! In Literacy, we learned about the different elements of fairy tales. We watched movie clips and listened to fairy tale stories to determine these elements. We also learned how to write a RACE writing response. This helps us to cite evidence from the text. We listened to the story Two Bad Ants and determined what ants could think everyday kitchen objects would be. Science was a highlight of all the students this week! We discussed how stages of matter can change. We witnessed this first hand as we performed a melting ice experiment, making the solid back into a liquid. On Friday, we showed the changing states of matter through making ice cream. It was a crazy and messy experiment, but it sure was delicious :) |
